Program Analyst

Job Description

The purpose of this job is to aid the Program Management organization in a staff capacity by analyzing and reporting on
program cost and schedule metrics, assisting in budget preparation and control, records control, and special management
studies. The Program Analyst will be part of the program management team and whose core responsibility is to collect
and analyze data enabling successful project, program and aftermarket services execution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, plans, schedules and budgets to meet contractual requirements for large or more complex projects and programs.

  • Develop/maintain methods for tracking and reporting project and program status and contract deliverables.

  • Support the P&T, Programs, Aftermarket Services, Operations and Finance groups in generation of cost proposals and pricing sheets.

  • Provide support to broader Project and Program teams to include assisting in project scheduling, budget management and coordination of graphic presentations.

  • Interface with all levels of internal personnel, customers and vendors to coordinate CDRL deliverables, budgets and schedules.

  • Generate weekly labor status reports and verify charges against program expectations.

  • Develop/maintain Earned Value Management System (EVMS) metrics; facilitate the identification/documentation/maintenance of a Risk Register; support project and program financial analysis/tracking/reporting; facilitate the collection/analysis/documentation of metrics/delivery statistics/invoicing on Aftermarket Service projects and programs within Company specified thresholds.

  • Compile, store and retrieve management data from SAP and present in readable format.

  • Work with Project, Program and Aftermarket Services Managers to generate, explain, and support estimates to complete.

  • Support Project, Program and Aftermarket Service Managers data request to support answering customer questions.

  • Follow and adhere to all company Program Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Product Lifecyle Process (PLP) policies, procedures, and reporting criteria.

  • Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.

  • Complying with and promoting all relevant legal requirements & Smiths policies and procedures, including business ethics, data protection and health & safety.

Required Skills and Experience


  • BS or BA degree in Business Management, Finance or Accounting or other related educational field. May accept significant demonstratable prior experience in lieu of degree.

  • PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PBA-PMI) Certification Desired

  • PMI and PBA-PMI Training Required as part of job function.


  • 2+ years relevant experience in a project support role.

Knowledge Skills/Other Attributes:?

  • Working level proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project) and SAP.

  • Demonstrated work experience desired and working knowledge with Earned Value

  • Management Systems (EVMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems, Risk Management Systems, and Finance Management and Analysis.

This position requires access to ITAR, EAR, and Department of State or Department of Commerce controlled information and routine access to a cleared facility. Applicant must be a U.S. Person (citizen, green card holder or other permanent resident).

Work Environment Details

Work environment is an office environment located on-site with the Edgewood MD Smiths Detection
Inc. campus during normal or extended business hours. Required to travel on an as needed basis only.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
